Hailed as “impossible to put down,” the Hex Hall series has both critics and teens cheering. With a winning combination of romance, action, magic and humor, this third volume will leave readers enchanted.
Just as Sophie Mercer has come to accept her extraordinary magical powers as a demon, the Prodigium Council strips them away. Now Sophie is defenseless, alone, and at the mercy of her sworn enemies—the Brannicks, a family of warrior women who hunt down the Prodigium. Or at least that’s what Sophie thinks, until she makes a surprising discovery. The Brannicks know an epic war is coming, and they believe Sophie is the only one powerful enough to stop the world from ending. But without her magic, Sophie isn’t as confident.
Sophie’s bound for one hell of a ride—can she get her powers back before it’s too late? The final instalment of the Hex Hall series is Spell Bound, the last book in the trilogy by Rachel Hawkins. For me, personally it is the best of the three (even though I gave them all four stars).
Once again, Rachel Hawkins does a wonderful job at pacing this story. The action is non stop throughout and once again, like Hex Hall and Demonglass, you never know where the story is going to lead you as a reader. My emotions were everywhere reading this book; I was bitterly upset one minute, and then confused the next and euphoric soon after that! What a rollercoaster!
Spell Bound has to be one of my favourite endings to a series. The thing is, I am not sure why! I think it is maybe because it was so action packed and had so many twists throughout. Plus, lots of background was covered, so that we learnt more about Sophie’s mother and where she came from – not to mention why she chose the choices she did for Sophie and herself.
So, in summary; Spell Bound is an action packed finale to the Hex Hall series, full of twists and turns that makes you beg for more by Rachel Hawkins.
