Written by Jacqueline van Maarsen, Anne Frank's best friend, this book tells the story of Jacque's friendship with Anne as well as her own struggles during the war.
I have always wanted to read Jacque's story as it intrigued me. Though Jewish by birth, Jacque was neither arrested nor transported as her mother was a French Catholic. Because of this, Jacque, her sister and father succeeded in having their yellow stars removed, thus allowing them to live.
This book was delightful and I hope to read more of Jacque's books.
