A Friend Called Anne
Written by Jacqueline van Maarsen, Anne Frank's best friend, this book tells the story of Jacque's friendship with Anne as well as her own struggles during the war. I have always wanted to read Jacque's story as it intrigued me. Though Jewish by birth, Jacque was neither arrested nor transported as her mother was a French Catholic. Because of this, Jacque, her sister and father succeeded in having their yellow stars removed, thus allowing them to live.
This book was delightful and I hope to read more of Jacque's books.
